It's come round at last:
apocalypse with a burnt-orange face
under a halo of dyed blond hair,
duck-tailed like a hepcat.
Slack body swimming in flag-pinned blue,
Sporting a shiny tie,
erection-red and stallion long.

Or better yet,
a big-bellied seal with flipper hands,
tiny hands compulsively clapping,
clapping himself onto his perch again,
about to bark his way
into the hearts of the other animals
at the zoo.
