Outpost

"It has been many years since I have been so drawn to a book of poems as I am to Outpost, a collection of remarkable originality but with hints of Hardy, Housman, Dickinson and Agee. The clear images of these poems cut what I am sure will be a lasting figure on my memory. I feel that I have memorized these poems after one reading."

Puritan Temper & Transcendental Faith

“A necessary corrective to prevailing theories of Carlyle’s self-contradiction.”

– G.B. Tennyson | University of California, Los Angeles

New Poems,
Late Thoughts

"These poems are fresh, spare, and deeply humane. Ikeler has a genuine talent for the unexpected juxtaposition: in his hands, even the ubiquitous lawn sign bears gentle witness to the drama of life itself. This moving collection is a real achievement."

– Carolyn Betensky | Author, Editor, Translator

About Abbott Ikeler

I’ve lived in New England and taught English most of my life. Bowdoin College, University of Rhode Island, Emerson College. But I could just as easily say I’ve written and traveled most of my life. Each matters to me as much as the other: home and work, creation and new experience.
